Professional experience

August 2004 - Present                                                                                  JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Application Developer Lead / Software Architect

n  Responsible for technology strategy, vision, and execution of software development in the Commercial Real-Estate division of the company.  This included the technical oversight of 13 software developers, 9 enterprise applications, and 28 servers which were used to service a $14 billion loan portfolio.

n  Architected and managed several enterprise projects which were aligned with a long-term technology strategy.  The successful execution of these projects allowed the slow migration of desktop applications to the web, while providing customers with useful new features throughout the migration process.

n  Evaluated the division’s technology solutions and compared them against current business needs.  Engaged and directed resources as necessary, and involved the business in all key decision making processes.  As a result of my efforts, decisions were made on technology solutions which were aligned with business needs and goals, and multi-phased plans were developed to implement changes.

n  Provided coaching, mentoring, and feedback to team members to improve communication and performance.  Led developers, engaged and guided them in decision processes, and improved their cohesiveness.  Organized software development training and bi-weekly “stand-up” meetings to increase teamwork and collaboration in the department.  Designed and implemented coding standards and software development processes for both Borland Delphi and Java development teams.

n  Managed the installation and maintenance of enterprise servers with load balancing, clustering, disaster recovery, and single sign-on authentication.  Ensured compliance with IT risk standards, personal information security regulations, and privacy policies.  Performed web security reviews and trained developers in authentication, data protection, and secure development practices.

March 2001 – August 2004                                                                      Sabre Airline Solutions Inc.

Senior Software Developer / Technical Lead

n  Part of a team of four developers developing software for the airline industry.  Lead the migration efforts of 8 software applications from the legacy Btrieve database to SQL Server and Oracle.  Developed web-based applications using HTML, JavaScript, CGI, and Borland DataSnap technology (3 tier model).

n  Responsible for development of a new application that better facilitated tracking of airline cargo.  This application allowed airlines to gather more information about the planned route and current location of cargo and gain operational efficiencies.

October 2002 – January 2004                                                                    Photography Central, Inc.

Co-Founder / Technical Director

n  Responsible for development and support of all software used by customers and for the operation of the company.

n  Designed and built the company website, including an ASP-based customer support area.  Designed and built websites for clients, which included HTML, JavaScript, Flash, and dynamic content where customers could order and purchase pictures.  Developed Win32 software for photographers to manage events and images on their website.  This included watermarking, resizing, creating thumbnail images, and sending the images to the website.  Implemented and maintained web, ftp, and e-mail servers.

February 1999 – March 2001

Volunteer Work in Leeds, England

n  Trained, supervised, and managed the activities of a team of 8 volunteers.

n  Managed maintenance, inspection, and repair for a fleet of over 60 vehicles.

n  Designed and implemented software which integrated two legacy systems, saving hundreds of hours of data entry per week.  Developed a real-time data extract and reporting tool, which was used by management to track the effectiveness of advertising.

January 1997 – February 1999                                                  David R. Bornemann Associates, Inc.

Software Developer

n  Part of a team of five developers writing Win32 software for the operational control centers at over 65 airlines (incl. America West).  Designed and implemented the first corporate website for this company.  Wrote documentation and online help manuals for front-end applications.  Played a large role in developing a table maintenance utility for the management of 80+ Btrieve tables.
